Professional Summary
Jaime is currently Project Director for the Humboldt Park Diabetes Prevention Project. Jaime comes to SUHI with over 25 years of experience in community organizing, public health administration, and research. Prior to his current position, he was Director of Community Services at the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health, Community Outreach Intervention Projects (COIP). While at COIP, he oversaw five community-based storefront field stations, a motor home, and two vans used to provide street-based programs to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and other serious diseases associated with drug abuse and other high-risk behaviors. Before moving to COIP in January 2000, Jaime worked as Community Coordinator for the Community Mental Health Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR). This project was multi-disciplinary services and research project of the Department of Psychiatry designed to provide community-based mental health services at partnered public schools and community health agencies in Latino and African American communities.
