She originally started working at Mt.Sinai Hospital in June of 98'. She has had many different opportunities within the health system. Most recently, transferring from a previous grant that focused on health disparities in the South Lawndale community. The main focus being diabetes and education. During that time she has had the opportunity to work with Dr. Butler; the Endocrinologist in the department of Medicine, here at Sinai. She served as a program coordinator in the Diabetes outpatient clinic for both adults and pediatrics.
During her time out in the community, she conducted presentations on diabetes and nutrition to community residents. She went out to neighborhood schools and interacted with students to promote healthy eating habits. In March 2009' she was featured on Telemundo (a Spanish local TV news station partnered with NBC) for a health segment that discussed the prevalence of diabetes among the Latino population and the diabetes resources here at Sinai.
Everything she has learned, she plans on passing it to her colleagues. Her focus is to educate those that need it and those that already have the disease, help manage it.
She's currently in school focusing on her nursing degree, in hopes to someday be able to help those in need, on a different level.
