Project:

Sinai Asthma Education Training Institute

Introduction:

What is the Sinai Asthma Education Training Institute?
The Sinai Asthma Education Training Institute (SAETI) was established as part of the Controlling Pediatric Asthma through Collaboration and Education (CPATCE) initiative funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The goal of SAETI is to increase asthma awareness throughout the State of Illinois by providing education to health care providers, staff of community based organizations, schools, daycares, and community members so that they can work successfully with individuals, families, and communities affected with asthma.

What services does the Asthma Education and Training Institute offer?
SAETI staff members are available locally (Chicagoland) to make Asthma Basics presentations to interested community organizations, and to provide resources at outreach events such as community and/or school health fairs. In addition to providing basic asthma presentations to the community, SAETI can work individually with organizations interested in training Lay Community Health Workers in asthma education. This train-the-trainer workshop is conducted by a Certified Asthma Educator.
