 Professional Summary Abigail Silva received her Master’s of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1997. Prior to joining the Sinai Urban Health Institute, Mrs. Silva was an Epidemiologist III at the Chicago Department of Public Health’s Office of HIV/AIDS Surveillance where she was the primary data analyst and author of the quarterly data newsletter and the city’s comprehensive HIV/AIDS epidemiologic profile. In addition, she presented data on the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS to various audiences citywide. Over the last six years she has been a senior member of the Sinai Urban Health Institute where she has been the primary evaluator of two CDC-funded HIV Testing projects and is currently evaluating an intensive HIV case management program. Her work has also included assessing racial disparities health outcomes in Chicago and its communities. Currently she is investigating trends in racial health disparities across several urban cities. She is actively involved in manuscript writing, data dissemination, and grant writing activities.
