Professional Summary
Ana-Rosa Garcia joined the Sinai Children's Hospital as an Asthma Community Health Educator in April 2006. Mrs. Garcia is responsible for recruiting and educating Hispanic families with asthmatic children in their native language, Spanish, as part of the Controlling Pediatric Asthma through Collaboration and Education (CPATCE) project. Ana-Rosa received her G.E.D. in 2005. While in Mexico she studied nursing. Prior to coming to Sinai Children’s Hospital, Ana-Rosa worked in collaboration with Mujeres Latinas en Acción and St. Pious at a domestic violence program and Parents Helping Parents, a program specializing in parent education, teaching parents how to communicate with their children about sensitive issues. While working with Parents Helping Parents she received certification as a domestic violence hotline counselor and as a peer educator.
