Professional Summary
Ami M. Shah joined the Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) in April 2002 as the coordinator of Sinai Health System Improving Community Health Survey.  She managed all research activities related to implementing this survey and continues to disseminate its findings locally and nationally.  Shah has facilitated the expansion of the survey to the Jewish Community in West Rogers Park and is currently working to replicate it the Chinatown community.  As part of the SUHI team, she has also developed a cultural competency curriculum for the Sinai Health System internal medicine residents.

Prior to joining the Sinai Urban Health Institute, Shah worked at EngenderHealth and consulted with several different agencies, including HelpAge International, Self-Employed Women’s Association, UNIFEM, and RAINBO (Research, Action and Integrated Network for the Bodily Integrity of Women).
